What I love most about visiting Hearst Castle is not only the over-the-top extravagance in design— for instance, the indoor Roman pool is covered with 1″x1″ square tiles, some made of real gold—- but the sense of calm and relaxation you feel when walking through the grounds. Stepping into these fantasy spaces is like visiting a temple.
